Conor McGregor is currently in discussions with UFC about a new contract as he prepares for his return to the octagon at UFC 303 on June 29. He added a note of caution, acknowledging that unforeseen circumstances have altered his plans in the past: "I've learned from life that unexpected things like injuries can happen, but God willing, I'll fight three times this year."
McGregor is particularly keen on participating in the UFC 306 event scheduled for September 5 at the newly constructed Sphere venue in Las Vegas, a $2.3 billion arena featuring extensive LED screen installations. This event, which UFC CEO Dana White has heavily invested in, marks the venue's debut in hosting a major sports event.
Despite McGregor’s interest in a rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 306 to conclude their trilogy—each having won one fight previously—Dana White quickly dismissed the idea, partly because Diaz is not currently signed with UFC. Regardless, McGregor remains committed to securing a fight on the September card and is looking forward to another bout before the year ends.
